“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” premiered September 2 on Prime Video, and the season one finale debuted on October 14. The record-breaking series takes inspiration from J.R.R. Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings” book series.

“The Rings of Power” is set thousands of years before “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit,” serving as an indirect prequel that takes place during the Second Age of Middle-earth. The show follows all of the major events from the Second Age, including the creation of the Rings of Power and the arrival of the Dark Lord Sauron.

While they’re played by different actors, “The Rings of Power” features a few characters that also appeared in Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” movies, including Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), Elrond (Robert Aramayo), Isildur (Maxim Baldry), and Gil-galad (Benjamin Walker).

How to watch ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’

You can watch “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” exclusively on Prime Video. New episodes premiered every Friday through October 14. All eight episodes of the first season are now available to stream.  

On its own, a Prime Video subscription costs $9 a month, but this option only applies to the streaming service. To get access to all of Amazon Prime’s benefits, you need to sign up for a full Prime membership for $15 a month or $139 a year. Students can also get 50% off Prime memberships, bringing the price down to $7.50 a month.
